Keep All Your Drivers Updated

To keep your computer functioning, keeping your drivers updated is a must. However, many of the driver updater solutions aren't free. Thankfully, Device Doctor is a completely free solution to keep all of your drivers updated. Here is how to use it.

How to Use Device Doctor

Simply download and run Device Doctor from here. On the window that pop-ups, click Begin Scan to start scanning for device drivers. After Device Doctor finds your drivers, it will start scanning for updates to your drivers. Finally, it will display a list of drivers that need to be updated along with a handy link to download the updates. Click Download Update, and you will be asked to download the driver installer and install it manually.

How to Actually Install the Driver Updates

In some cases, the driver file you downloaded could be a executable file. Simply run the executable and go through the wizard. The wizard will install your drivers and updates for you. However, sometimes the driver file was a Zip file that you need to extract. Open up Device Manager, and right-click the device that needs the drivers to be updated. (To Open Device Manager, Open Control Panel and search for "Device Manager" in Windows 7 or Vista. In Windows XP, Open the Control Panel, click System, and click the tab that says Hardware.) Choose “Update Driver Software” from the right-click menu. Then choose “Browse my computer for driver software” in the wizard. Then browse to the folder where you extracted the drivers and updates, and go through the rest of the wizard.
